Online Taxpayers Have Until May 2 To File and Pay State Taxes

STATE OF NEW MEXICO Taxation and Revenue Department An Equal Opportunity Employer Bill Richardson Governor Jan Goodwin Secretary Online Taxpayers Have Until May 2 To File and Pay State Taxes April 11, 2005 SANTA FE - New Mexicans who still haven’t filed their 2004 personal income tax return can extend the April 15 deadline until May 2, 2005 -- if they file and pay their taxes electronically.

According to Jan Goodwin, Secretary of the state Taxation and Revenue Department, New Mexicans can file their personal income tax returns electronically.

“To date, “Goodwin said, “346,154 New Mexicans have filed their tax returns electronically. Of those who filed electronically and were owed a refund, most received a refund check within a week.” While taxpayers who file electronically have until May 2, 2005 to pay and file their 2004 state income taxes, anyone who is expecting a refund has until October 15, 2005 to file electronically. After that date, taxpayers must file a paper return. The state can also deposit your refund check directly into your personal savings or checking account.
